Universal Children's Day was highly unusual for pupils of 6-7th grades of the boarding school №17. This boarding school is purposed for children from low-income families, Universal Children's Day 2012 had turned sporting for them. This event was held in one of the sports facilities in our city. At first, children visited all the sports sections, after the excursion a full training in aikido section was conducted for them. World-class coaches taught children basic self-defense skills, especially girls liked this workout. A female trainer with 6th dan in aikido showed them the different techniques of leaving from different clenches. At the end of the training, three pupils of the boarding school № 17 were invited to seriously engage with this type of martial arts.
After the aikido section children went to the pool, where two instructors conducted a lesson on safe conduct in the water, then children swam in the pool and played "water polo" with great pleasure in the small pool.
Charity foundation "Ayala" traditionally included a complete meal in the celebration of Universal Children's Day. At the end of the event, children were gifted sports winter caps and scarves. The selection of these gifts was connected with the sports character of the celebration. The aikido section’s management decided to bring a larger group of children to one of the trainings for their selection into this sport section.
