New equipment was purchased for medical and educational children's institutions of Almaty. Doctors of Almaty Perinatal Center will be able to save more infant lives. A hypothermia apparatus and an electroencephalograph (EEG monitoring) were purchased for this institution as the part of "Controlled hypothermia" project of AYALA Charity Foundation.
They make possible to conduct both stages of therapeutic hypothermia: hypothermia to the prescribed 32-34 ° C and a patient warming. The use of the controlled therapeutic hypothermia apparatus will reduce the morbidity and mortality of newborns, the frequency of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), which is diagnosed in 47% of the cases of the pathological state of the neonatal period. HIE in newborns, which arises as a result of acute perinatal asphyxia, increases the risk of death by 20%, the risk of neuropsychological development by 30%. In severe HIE infants die in 60% of cases, and almost all survived children become disabled.
Also a playground with a safe covering for children with disabilities was installed on the sponsor money in the Center of Special Social Services No. 2 in Almaty.
New "Spiro Tiger" breathing mobile simulator for training of lung capacity expanding was presented to “Alatau” children's health camp.
A robotic construction kit for deaf children was purchased for the special (correctional) boarding school No. 1 for children with hearing impairments.
Also two classrooms in the boarding school No. 17 for children from low-income families were updated - a sewing workshop for girls and a metalwork shop for boys.
This whole project, totaling 27.5 million tenge, has become another stage of the eight-year cooperation of AYALA Charity Fund with Chevron Company. It should be noted, that the assistance is regularly provided to various institutions and organizations of Almaty and Astana.
The ceremonial presentation of certificates for the above mentioned equipment, purchased by the sponsor, was held today at the boarding school No. 17. There was also a master class conducted with the participation of Malli designer brand. For a few weeks girls were learning to make patterns and sew, and today they demonstrated their finished works. All the guests received memorable gifts made by the children.
"Our foundation is proud of its partnership and friendship with Chevron Company. We continue to learn a systematic approach to social projects from them. Besides the installation of medical equipment, trainings and master classes for medical workers were conducted in the hospitals. We hope that such effective cooperation with Chevron Company will last many years,” said the president of AYALA Charity Foundation Aidan Suleimenova.
