Today, AYALA Charity Foundation, with the support of SB JSC “Bank Home Credit”, transferred additional equipment for a Montessori room to the correctional boarding school No. 1 in Kokshetau. Although the Montessori system was originally developed exclusively for children with special needs, such famous people as actor George Clooney, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales and Google founder Sergey Brin studied in schools using this system.

287 children with varying degrees of intellectual disability study at the boarding school No.1, more than 100 out of them are children with disabilities. And they have one common problem: difficulties in sensory development and perception. The development of sensory perception in a child is an important stage for the formation of more complex thinking processes.

The problem with sensory perception affects the cognition of the world through sounds, smells and sensations in the formation of ideas about color, shape, size, etc. Because of this, children have a superficial perception of objects, they cannot analyze and compare what is perceived from the outside world, and they cannot carry out a systematic search and take adequate actions. All this leads to their chaotic, erratic and meaningless interaction with environment.

A few years ago, a Montessori room opened in the boarding school No. 1 in Kokshetau. The Montessori system pays a lot of attention to the development of fine motor skills and sense of touch. Accurate, neat actions with small objects contribute to the formation of intelligence, help in the development of speech, attention and memory. Classes on this system include many activities related to sorting, stringing objects, guessing them by touch in shape and texture. There are a lot of manipulations with natural materials - pebbles, cones, pieces of wood and shells.

The main principle of this educational system is "Help me do it myself." Therefore, all tasks are shown by a teacher by his/her own example. And a student makes them as many times as he/she wants, completely independently.

SB JSC “Bank Home Credit” helped to supplement several areas of the Montessori room — sensory development, mathematics, and language ones. In total, 12 items of special equipment for this room were presented in the amount of 566 thousand tenge.

According to the teachers of the boarding school, the additional materials for the Montessori room presented by SB JSC “Bank Home Credit” will help children in sensory development and perception, in the formation of their cognitive interests and in improving intellectual abilities.
