On 21 – 23th of January 2009 charity foundation “AYALA” delivered phototherapy devices to all maternity hospitals and children’s hospitals of Almaty city.

The first 13 phototherapeutic apparatuses out of 32 were transferred to Municipal Perinatal Center. Then doctors, the hospitals administration, the president and staff of the City Health Department warmly thanked foundation members as it ocuured elsewhere

These devices are designed for phototherapy treatment of jaundice in newborns. Even with severe forms of jaundice phototherapy can treat without medication or significantly reduce the drug load on the small patients. The first step was the installation of such devices in maternity hospitals and children’s hospitals. Later we plan to equip all children welfare clinics of the city with “Healing lights”.

This aid is contribution to the future of intellectual development of children because postnatal jaundice is one of the first illnesses in the list of threats that can damage the brains of infants.

Funds for the purchase of these devices were collected within a few months by many organisations and just good people.
