Four thousand people from 25 countries. This year exactly this number of sportsmen ran a capital marathon that was organized once again under the careful guidance of Gaukhar Bramley-Fenton and local council of Astana city. A prime minister Karim Masimov, a secretary general of the republic’s president Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, a minister of culture and sport Arystanbek Mukhamediuli and also such famous sportsmen as Alexander Vinokurov and Serik Sapiyev took part in the marathon.  Each participant chose a distance: 42,2 km; 21,1 km; 10 km and relay race. The opening and ending of “Astana Marathon 2016” were organized next to the entertainment center “Khan Shatyr”. 

Kazakh sportsmen Daniyar Eleusinov, Serik Sapiyev, Vasiliy Levit, Guzel Manurova, Eldos Smetov, Farkhad Kharki, Arman Chilmanov, Dzhansel Deniz and Ekaterina Nemich had photos taken with everybody who wanted to and gave them autographs. The “AYALA” charity foundation was one of the event’s beneficiaries. The foundation’s participation allowed to collect a part of financial resources for a sensory room for Akkol orphanage in Akmola region. It should be noticed that 80 children at the age from 4 to 17 live in this institution. The equipment, bought thanks to the sponsors’ contributions, will help teachers hold correctional and developmental work with the children.  

At the marathon “AYALA” foundation was supported by corporate sponsors – ATF Bank, Kamkor Management, Autogaz Trade, partners – Confederation of combat and strength sports, Kazakhstan Federation of Boxing and also runners who took individual part. In total 1 515 200 tenge was collected. Let us remind that in Astana the charity marathon was held for the first time on September,13, last year.
