Today a press conference on the completion of the republican "Breathe, baby" project of the "AYALA" charity foundation held in a press center of Information "Interfax Kazakhstan" agency. For 5 years under this project the foundation has equipped children's resuscitation departments of regional perinatal centers (RPC) of Kazakhstan with most modern medical equipment worth total of 337.5 million tenge.

In 2008 the Republic of Kazakhstan passed to the World Health Organization (WHO) standards of criteria of live birth. From this moment an infant weighing from 500 grams is considered to be live births. Prior to this, since the Soviet times, live births were considered children weighing more than 1,200 grams. Passing to the WHO standards of our country has dramatically increased rates of infant mortality, which, along with maternal mortality is one of the indicators of development. Switching to other standards presented new qualification requirements for health workers and to equipping children's resuscitation departments with high-tech medical equipment.

The "Breathe, baby" project was launched in Almaty in 2009, and the greatest attention was provided to Almaty city perinatal center. With the help of medical equipment, transferred by the foundation, the center staff have increase the survival of premature infants weighing less than 1,000 grams from 5% to 24%, which is almost in 5 times. Convinced of the high efficiency of the project the “AYALA” foundation decided to expand the scope of the project and to equip all regional perinatal centers of our country high-tech medical equipment.

In 2011, the "AYALA" foundation and the Ministry of Health signed a memorandum of cooperation and collaboration, the "Breathe, baby" project has gained a republican status. The charity foundation using its own resources discovered the needs of all regional perinatal centers in medical equipment. The foundation has been actively attracting sponsors and acquires vital and modern equipment for the pediatric resuscitation departments of regional perinatal centers.

Different companies were sponsors of the project. “Kar-Tel” Llp with Beeline trade mark provided 1462 a short number to raise money through sms. Thanks to Beeline subscribers 9.5 million tenge were collected. British-Kazakh Society 2 years in a row pursued charity races in Almaty, Astana and London, all funds collected from which were sent to the "Breathe, baby" project. A world violin music star concert Marat Bisengaliyev and talented young performers Galiya and Amir Bisengaliyev contributed to the realization of the "Breathe, baby" project. Rixos Borovoe bike ride, headed by Olympic champion Alexander Vinokurov was another significant milestone in the project.

Kaspi bank sponsored the "Breathe, baby" project by the sum of 91.5 million tenge. The final chord of the "Breathe, baby" was handing of the symbolic check for 38 million tenge, which was signed by Vyacheslav Kim, Michael Lomtadze and Hollywood star Antonio Banderas.

From 2009 to 2014 the modern medical equipment received children resuscitation departments of RPC in Almaty, Karaganda, Semipalatinsk, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Atyrau, Taraz, Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Shymkent, Petropavlovsk, Pavlodar, Kostanay, Shymkent, Turkestan, Kokshetau Aktau and Uralsk cities. The "Breathe, baby" successfully completed, as evidenced by statistics of medical institutions. The percentage of rescued babies with extremely low birth weight significantly increased, and it allowed in 2013 to reduce newborn mortality rate by 17%. It was noted by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in his report.

The representative of the Ministry of Health, Professor, Deputy Director of the Scientific Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology Laura Kayupova highly evaluated the activities of the "AYALA" charity foundation. This was noted by the Ministry of Health awards - honorary badge «For contribution to the development of healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan» and letters of recognition to the widely celebrated medical holidays. From the stand point of the Ministry of Health, the "AYALA" charity foundation made an invaluable contribution to the improvement of the Kazakhstan medicine. "About the "Breathe, baby" project I know for a long time, this project, in my opinion, useful and clever. People working in the foundation prudently and reasonably want to help our colleagues".

Marzhan ELSHIBAEVA, head of the Communications Department of JSC «Kaspi Bank»:

"When signed a check for the purchase of equipment for hospitals, we all understand that behind this seemingly soulless document can be saved lives of children. One thing is when it is of theoretical and quite, another when you see happy parents with babies. One of such children is Nurislam Zhanabilov from Aktau. He was born in critical condition and could not breathe and eat himself. This boy has survived thanks to the doctors and new technologies. Now he's doing well, grows and develops.

It must be admitted that sometimes life can save the professionalism of doctors only in conjunction with modern equipment. I am very grateful to the "AYALA" charity foundation, which makes socially significant "Breathe, baby" project. And there are about two thousand children in the country as Nurislam!"

Elmira ZHAKASHEVA, director of the Almaty Perinatal Center remarked: "Workers of the "AYALA" charity foundation repeatedly proved their professionalism in approach to work with medical institutions. And this is not surprising, as president of the foundation Aidan Suleimenova graduated second Moscow State Medical University named after Pirogov, and she managed to gather in the foundation team of highly qualified specialists - doctors, managers and volunteers who are trying to do everything for the successful implementation of the initiatives. This is a very competent and balanced approach to their work. Our entire team excited about this".

“The “Breathe, baby” project was very stressful. If we have done something to help our colleagues - obstetricians, neonatologists, middle and junior medical staff, I consider my physician mission successful. Implementation of this would have been impossible without our partners. I want to list them all, but it will take more than one page. I am delighted that our medical projects supported the Ministry and the regional Department of Health", - said the President of the "AYALA" foundation Aidan SULEIMENOVA.
