The new vital equipment has appeared in the children’s intensive care unit of Ekibastuz maternity hospital. The charity foundation “AYALA” granted a new resuscitation table, an artificial lung ventilation apparatus (ALV) and infusion pumps for the total sum of 15 211 000 tenge. The medical syringe dosimeter significantly simplifies the work of nurses’ personnel, it automatically calculates the micro doses. ALV apparatus is suitable for children whose weight starts from 500 grams. It has a built-in CPAP which helps a child to expand lungs. The resuscitation table maintains the temperature of the infant’s body. According to the words of medical employees, they are already familiar with such apparatus. They are convinced that this equipment will rescue hundreds of children as there are such infants who cannot manage without respiratory apparatus. For example, this year 132 children passed through the intensive care unit of maternity hospital. From this number more than a half of children are premature. The last had weight of not more than one kilogram.
Referring to the words of chief physician of Ekibastuz maternity hospital Gulnara Nigmetzhanova, their maternity hospital is the only obstetric institution in the complex industrial region and very often it is necessary to provide help to pregnant women who are in difficult critical situations. It should be noted that all financial means were collected thanks to the participation of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan. The bank clients transferred small sum of money through Internet banking for 5 years (myhalyk.kz).
The provision of medical equipment is a part of global project “Breathe life” that is aimed at giving help to children’s intensive care units of Kazakhstan hospitals. It was launched by the charity foundation “AYALA” in 2007 in the children’s clinical infection hospital of Almaty city. In 2011 it was decided to expand the frameworks of the started project beyond the limits of southern capital.
